A highly versatile and well-equipped legal professional with well over a decade of experience. Stephen has covered the majority of each and every criminal offence coming before the courts ranging from petty offences of theft to grave crimes, including Rape and Murder.
Stephen has become a specialist in assisting clients who are being investigated for offences of a sexual nature that fall under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for offences such as Rape and Sexual Assault, to name but a few.
He has acquired an in-depth understanding of the offences and defences available for offences relating to the Indecent Images of Children falling under the two main offence categories: –
- Section 1 of the Protection of Children Act 1978 (PCA 1978); and
- Section 160 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (CJA 1988)
Stephen has extensive knowledge and considerable expertise of offences falling under the Fraud Act 2006 and offences attributed to this legislation, including but not limited to Fraud by False Representations, Fraud by Failing to Disclose Information, Fraud by Abuse of Position and Possession of Articles for the use in Fraud offences.
Stephen is well versed with the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), which governs police powers of investigation, including arrest, detention, interrogation, entry and search of premises, personal searches and the taking of samples.
Over the years, he has been involved in interviews conducted by the National Crime Agency, Eastern Regional Special Operations Unit and Fraud Squad advising in the most serious cases, including ones attracting media attention.
Stephen has also gained experience in interviews under caution for regulatory offences with various governing bodies and authorities, including but not limited to the department for works and pensions, driving vehicles standards agency, and RSPCA, to name but a few.
Stephen has handled thousands of investigation enquiries and been involved in some of the most high profile cases prosecuted in the last decade. He has worked for several ‘top tier’ criminal defence law firms in London, Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties.
